Pramac Racing duo Randy de Puniet, Loris Capirossi struggle at British Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Pramac Racing riders Randy de Puniet and Loris Capirossi completed a below par race weekend at the AirAsia British Grand Prix on Sunday.
Capirossi finished 10th while his teammate Puniet was 12th to cross the finish line.
Both Pramac teammates suffered from front-end problems in their satellite Ducati Desmosedici. They struggled to complete the race in wet and cold conditions and once came close to an accident as well.
Loris Capirossi lacked the fight to finish ninth just as he did in the Catalan GP. Hiroshi Aoyama fought well in tough conditions to drop him to a tenth place finish at Silverstone.
Pramac Racing rider, Loris Capirossi said, “Compared to yesterday, the situation didn’t improve. It was important for us to finish the race, but I had a really hard time because I lacked feeling with the front end. I wasn’t able to make the front tyre work,
and I was close to falling every time I leaned over, even putting my feet down.”
The Italian rider added that he was fighting to complete the race as the weather was increasing difficulties. It was cold and hard for the Capirossi to ride to the finish line.
The race weekend at England proved to be very tough for the Pramac Racing team as their riders faced tough conditions at all free practice sessions and in qualifying round. Randy de Puniet had a high speed fall in the warm up session just ahead of the race
start, which affected his race preparation and confidence in the bike.
The problems added on when the race was interrupted by cold breeze and intermittent downpour. The weather conditions altered the race results with the top three contenders who crashed and retired. The Pramac Racing Ducati machines suffered the most throughout
the 20 laps of race.
The riders could not improve the pace to charge into a fight for better position. Randy de Puniet was overlapped by the race winner Casey Stoner along Mapfre Aspar Team rider Hector Barbera. Now Puniet holds two races finishes in the 2011 season and four
‘did not finish’ statuses after six rounds in the ongoing MotoGP season. His best finish so far is tenth in Portugal.
Randy de Puniet said, “Today was the worst race in my life. It's difficult for me to describe this bad day, which began with a bad crash during warm up. I lacked feeling with the bike because of the usual problem with the front.”
Puniet added that it was hard to keep up in these tough conditions as he came close to crashing twice in a single lap. Both the riders will be participating in the seventh round at Assen, Netherlands on June 23, 2011. Let’s see if they can improve their
season’s performance there.
