Pramac Racing rider Loris Capirossi declared unfit for Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Pramac Racing team rider Loris Capirossi has been declared unfit for the 15th MotoGP round, the Grand Prix of Japan.
After his unfortunate crash during the Gran Premio de Aragon, he suffered a dislocated shoulder. It was the same shoulder that he broke at Assen. His right shoulder has been through a lot of tough time similar to his 2011 MotoGP season.
Capirossi said, “I wanted to race in Japan. It is one of my favourite tracks where I have achieved many good results and much satisfaction, but the doctors were more than clear.”
Considering his critical situation, the doctors suggested a surgery to repair his shoulder. The Italian rider decided to delay the process as he looked forward to racing at Motegi. After damaging his right shoulder twice in a season, he is strictly barred
from racing.
If Capirossi undergoes the surgery, it will at least take three months to recover from the process and get back to racing. Therefore, on the other side it means that Capirossi will come to an early end to his career. Earlier in September, he announced his
retirement after spending 22 years in the sport.
Capirossi added, “After an initial consultation in Monaco, where it was recommended I immediately undergo surgery, which would have meant three months out and the end of my career, I went to Imola to see Dr. Costa. He is used to seeing other riders in these
conditions, and I thought he might have other ideas.”
The Italian rider added that his consultant doctor advised him to stop racing for a minimum of two weeks, with an added week for rehab. It confirms that he will not be able to take part in the Japanese GP. Capirossi also admitted that he is experiencing
a lot of pain due to severe damage.
He is surely unhappy with the fact that he will be missing one of his favourite tracks in his last MotoGP season. However, according to the doctor’s opinion, it is best for him to end in this way. It is also important to miss this event so that he can get
fit for the final three rounds of the season.
