Pramac Racing rider Loris Capirossi ruled out of Italian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Pramac Racing team rider Loris Capirossi has been declared unfit for the eighth round of the 2011 MotoGP season, the Gran Premio d’Italia scheduled to take place on July 3, 2011.
The veteran crashed during qualifying practice session at the Dutch TT Assen event.
Capirossi said, “I'm obviously very disappointed and angry. I was hoping I could do to get on track for this race, but the double fracture of the ninth and tenth ribs and distorting the AC joint injury forced me to raise the white flag for the first time
in my career for Mugello.”
He crashed due to wet conditions on the Dutch circuit. Earlier in the qualifying practice session, Repsol Honda trio Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso and Hiroshi Aoyama all fell one after another. Luckily, all the three Honda riders did not suffer any major
injuries. However, Capirossi was not so lucky and broke his ribs.
Pramac Racing rider, Capirossi regretted that he will not be racing at Mugello. He said, “I'm sorry for the many fans that will be at Mugello, the track to which they are emotionally closest. I have many fond memories of this track; I wanted to turn my season
in this circuit. Now I will have to rest, sit still for at least two weeks and try to get back on track as soon as possible.”
The Italian rider has sustained a fracture on ninth and tenth ribs. He has also dislocated the AC joint in his shoulder. After the crash, he feels that he needs to rest at least for two more weeks.
With his absence, the MotoGP grid will again drop to 16 premier class riders. The upcoming event in Italy will see the comeback of the Spanish rider of the Repsol Honda team, Dani Pedrosa, who has missed three rounds in a row.
This season has witnessed many riders suffering from injuries. Especially the trend of collarbone fracture in the 2011 MotoGP season continued with Cal Crutchlow being the latest victim.
