Pramac Racing rider Loris Capirossi to make final appearance in premier class at Valencia – MotoGP
Pramac Racing rider Loris Capirossi will take part in the 2011 MotoGP season and his final race at Valencia, Spain.
Capirossi will retire from premier class racing following the end of the 2011 season.
The death of Marco Simoncelli is still fresh in the minds of riders, friends and fans. The Pramac Racing duo also feels the same to race without Super Sic at Spain.
Capirossi said, “It will be difficult to be in the paddock without Marco, as everyone will miss him. No one will feel like going on the track, but we have to do it for him and for all fans of motorcycle racing. It will be my final race, and I still don’t
know what will be going through my head, but I want to do it as well as possible.”
The Italian veteran will count his 328th start in the MotoGP career, which will be his last race. Capirex has a 22-season long career in which he has ridden with different manufacturers.
Though he will be appearing in his final race but still he aims to honour his compatriot during Sunday’s race.
Capirossi’s teammate Randy de Puniet has also been sad on the loss of a marvellous rider. He will also pay tribute to his fellow rider Simoncelli.
De Puniet said, “I share Capirex’s thoughts; it will be really difficult to race at Valencia without Marco, but part of our job is to continue. I’ll try my best to finish off the season with a good result.”
Many riders will carry its number 58 on their racing leathers. Some riders will be wearing replica helmets of Simoncelli.
The 24-year-old Italian died during the Malaysian Grand Prix. Simoncelli had a low side accident, but still hung to his bike.
Approaching from behind, Colin Edwards of Tech3 and Valentino Rossi of Ducati Team hit him. Both Edwards and Rossi ran over him with no margin of reaction that could minimise the accident.
Severe injuries on the head, back and ribs of Simoncelli caused an instant cardiac arrest. Though he was given medical support to resuscitate for an hour, but he could not breathe back.
