Pramac Racing rider Loris Capirossi to return for German Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Pramac Racing team rider Loris Capirossi has decided to return to the 2011 MotoGP action at the upcoming eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.
The ninth premier class event will take place at Sachsenring, Germany this weekend on July 17, 2011.
Capirossi said, “I'm still not completely well, but I have a couple more days of physical therapy to recover a little more. Getting back on track will be positive, but my goal is to be back to 100 per cent for Laguna Seca. Missing the race at Mugello was
very difficult for me, and it affected me a lot.”
The veteran Italian was down during the qualifying practice round for the Dutch TT Assen GP. In the crash, he suffered from broken ribs and minor injuries to neck and shoulder. Following his injuries, he opted out of the Italian Grand Prix.
Missing his home event was a tough decision for him and his team. The Italian event was also important for Ducati since it was their home event. Only Randy de Puniet represented the Pramac Racing team at the Italian MotoGP event.
The Italian rider is keen to race in Sachsenring and change his rhythm in the season. After the Italian Grand Prix, it was most likely to replace Capirossi with Sylvain Guintoli who presently rides for the Effenbert-Liberty Ducati racing team in the World
Superbike Championship.
Pramac Racing Team technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini said, “Capirex's return to the track is definitely the most important aspect of this grand prix. Obviously, Loris won't be at 100%, but he has worked a lot these days in order to be able to ride
the bike adequately.”
Sterlacchini also said that Capirossi has raced in even worse physical conditions and therefore, it is expected that the Italian veteran is capable of doing it again this time.
Even after realising the fact that he is not perfectly fit to take the racing stress he is determined to come back at Sachsenring and ride his own Ducati Desmosedici. It is also expected that Sylvain Guintoli will be seated as a reserve rider in the team.
Let’s see how the team fares at the upcoming event this weekend.
