Pramac Racing rider Randy de Puniet heads to Mugello after disappointing Assen GP – MotoGP news
Randy de Puniet of Pramac Racing faced a disappointing event at the Dutch TT Assen Grand Prix and heads to Mugello, Italy for the next event.
The team lost its second rider Loris Capirossi after his crash in qualifying practice and participated with single rider in the Netherlands event, which hampered the team’s spirit.
Pramac Racing team rider, Randy De Puniet said, “I am really upset over what happened today. I wanted to end this race with a good result, but I slipped at the beginning of the second lap. This negative period seems to be a never-ending story for me and for the team. Today I could have at least finished in eighth or ninth position.”
The seventh round for the team went in vain. Puniet collected his fifth ‘did not finish’ status in the ongoing 2011 season as he crashed in second lap while cornering into the first bend.
Puniet was desperate to finish the Assen event in top ten positions but his bike did not complement his passion. Many team riders were also facing issues with grip and cold tyre temperatures.
Now the team looks forward to Mugello, Italy. With another incomplete race, the team wants to give a quick restart to their premier class season. Italy is the home ground for the Ducati manufacturer and it can prove to be a success as well.
Puniet added, “I am very sorry, I have to apologize to my team and my technicians, who are always working very hard for me, but today I made a big mistake and I lost control of my bike. I hope that the Ducati will be ready to give the best at Mugello, I will sure push to the maximum to do well.”
The team is ready to race with both riders in the eighth round at Italy. Since they are the only non-Japanese bike manufacturer in MotoGP class, they will be looking to do well in their home event.
The most awaited event by Valentino Rossi and Marco Simoncelli promises to be an exciting one. Let’s see how it transpires.
