The Italian head coach commented on Cassano and Balotelli’s partnership but went on to discuss whether Di Natale would be included in the match against the Vatreni.
Question marks still revolve around the fitness of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 who is still not fit enough to play the whole length of the match. Cassano was substituted around the 65 minute mark; however he was enterprising in the match and
created a number of opportunities.
Prandelli conceded that his starting strike force could have played a bit better, but was still content with the way they played.
He reserved words for the Manchester City striker, stating that he needs to play with a bit more relaxation and not be bogged down by undue pressure. He stated that there was a dire need for him to keep things simple.
The former Fiorentina manager was later quizzed whether Di Natale’s goal against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 might force his way into the team, to which the head coach replied:
“Di Natale instead of Balotelli against Croatia? Let us first understand how to take on Croatia and then we’ll decide. I’ll evaluate all of the players, but I don’t think I’ll change too much.”
The Udinese striker had been omitted from the national side for the past two years, and Prandelli tried to justify the decision by stating that he wanted to inject some fresh blood into the Italian squad. However, he was quick
to state that Di Natale was not cast aside and that he always kept an eye on the veteran striker. He went on to state:
“I left Di Natale out of the first team for two years because I wanted to rejuvenate the squad, but I always kept my eye on him.”
It will be interesting to note the final decision to be made by the Italian boss as the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Croatia-c2879 is of great importance. Another showing of missed opportunities and not capitalizing on the opposition’s mistakes would
mean they would be left to rue the chances later on.
However, Balotelli can be charged with trying too hard, as he did cause the Spanish defence with some problems, but he needs to be more decisive when he has the ball at his feet.
