The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 head coach has mentioned in a book that people targeting homosexuals are racists, and players need to come out and be confident in their orientation.
The Nazionale tactician has thrown his backing to all those players who have been hiding their sexual preferences over their playing careers and states that it is still
a stigma for professional athletes. The book is regarding homosexuality in sport and it is being written by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Flavio-c13821 Pagano.
Prandelli was vehement in his views on the situation and stated that measures needed to be made in today’s world regarding this predicament. He further stated that elements
in the society remain which dissuade homosexuals to come out in the open. He further commented:
“Homophobia is racism and it is indispensable that we make further steps to look after all aspects of individuals living their own lives, including sporting figures.”
He was saddened by the fact that there were still seeds prevalent in the society which hampered the day to day lives of people with differing preferences. He urged everyone
to start being more accepting of this reality and that everyone should be free to live their own lives with freedom and without the fear of being constantly judged. He remarked:
“In the world of football and of sport in general there is still a taboo around homosexuality. Everyone ought to live freely with themselves, their desires and their sentiments.”
Prandelli further shed light on his views by writing that the beauty of the game would be when everyone would accept everyone’s preferences and remain true to their own
selves. He was hopeful that players would start coming out and admitting their sexual orientation. In his preface he further wrote:
“We must all work for a sporting culture that respects the individual in every manifestation of his truth and freedom. Hopefully soon some players will come
out.”
Prandelli’s preface will be found in the book “The Champion in Love”, and the authors have covered a wide range of sports including athletics, tennis, rugby, cycling and
boxing. Many homosexuals are urged to remain quiet on their orientation.
