The former Atalanta youth coach denied rumours of any communication gap between him and the Manchester City striker, and commented on lessons learnt from history.
There seems to be a rift between the Manchester City striker and certain members of the Italian team. The former Internazionale forward always seems to find himself embroiled in one controversy after another. There had been rumours that Cesare Prandelli
would not be taking the Manchester City striker for the European Championships.
Prandelli had come on record to suggest that players need not be a liability for the side, by picking up useless bookings and being the centre of wrongdoings. Balotelli was quoted to have said that he would fight anyone who delves in racial abuse at the
tournament. The youngster also showed his anger at being substituted during matches.

When quizzed over his relationship with the Juventus target, Prandelli stated that there was no bad blood between the two, but he was keen to know what went around in his head. He was quoted to have said:
“I have no difficulties communicating with him, but curiosity of trying to understand a 20-year-old lad. In terms of behaviour and mentality, these are radical changes he’s going through, so I’m curious to know what emotions he has and what he thinks he
needs to do in order to become a champion.”
La Nazionale have a history of playing at a higher level against tough opposition, and the same is expected of them against the Germans in the semi-final of the European Championships.
When asked about their history of performing better against bigger opposition, Prandelli was of the opinion that past encounters do not have a big weight in future outcomes. He went on to state:
“We always try to win, but it’s not possible. History teaches a lot, but it’s the reality of the moment that counts and so all past meetings show for little. We are confident we can play well.”
