Pranjal Prabhu advances to main round of All India Junior Ranking Tournament – Badminton news
India’s young and talented female shuttler Pranjal Prabhu Chimulkar served the notice of her potential in the qualifying round of All India Junior Ranking Tournament and marched into main round on June 25, 2013.
She locked horns with a native shuttler Palak Kukreja and their meeting prolonged to 40 minutes in the local badminton arena of Hyderabad. Both Women’s Singles experts challenged each other in all areas of game and entertained the crowd while piling up the
final figures of 21-14, 15-21 and 21-19.
Pranjal managed to prevail in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas Palak could pocket only the second match point.
In the opening game, Pranjal did not give her rival enough time to get settled and confounded her with an intensive attack. She unleashed a series of power packed strokes and confined the opposing shuttler in the rear court.
This flurry of productive strokes helped her to register a decent total of 11 before the one-minute break. She did not lose focus after the interval and served the notice of her dominance with a splendid result of 21-14.
The second set was also played in similar manner but the result was different this time. The young Indian shuttler Palak showed a transformed character and turned her rival’s plans of straight-set victory into dust.
She did show any sign of bewilderment even after the first set loss and played with great precision in the establishing rallies of second set. Palak claimed many valuable points in a row and placed a mountainous figure of 11.
She made best out of this advantage in latter part of the game and swept the table with 21-15 score on the board.
In third set of match, Pranjal kept a low profile in the beginning and allowed her challenger to stay close. However, she kick started her campaign with few consecutive points and established an upper hand way before the half time.
After the one-minute break, she made few fatal mistakes and allowed her competitor top narrow the gap on points table. Both contenders stood toe-to-toe throughout this set and this nerve-racking tussle ended when Pranjal registered a concluding margin of
21-19.
