Question:

Prank phone calling?

Someone got my phone number and won't stop making these stupid calls. Of course, out of courtesy, everytime they call, I put the phone down on the kitchen table and "forget" about it for a half hour or so. [:

But is there anyway I can block them from calling me? I don't have Caller ID or anything like that. Just a normal, basic phone from like 2003ish.

  1. check your phone bill and find the time and call your phone company and ask them to block the number

  2. Go ex-directory, or maybe better still, get your phone company to monitor your calls for a period of time, then the next time you get one of these calls, contact the phone company and they will have the number of the last call you received, then something can be done to put a stop to it

  3. You can have restricted numbers. Like you can restrict it to where if someone calls, thats not in your address book, it'll take them straight to voicemail every time.

  4. *69 to find the number if its available. If not, then dial *77 to activate anonymous call rejection (if you have that feature) It will block out private callers.

If this is a collection agency calling you, you cant block the number, unfortunatly.

  5. Its illegal to prank phone call, tell your parents, if you j find out there one of your friends then their not your friend.

  6. sometimes the phone companies do that.

THey pay people to call you incessently.  You then get caller I.D. (which costs  you money, and gains THEM money).  Then, they start calling you again, only now they block their caller ID so you still don't know who it is... so they sell you even more sophisticated features (which costs you money, and gains THEM money).  Then nuisance calls STILL make it through (after all, it's the phone company making the calls...they can bypass their own filters with impunity) so you get a second phone line and use the second line for important things, and you let your spammed line languish like an old email account.  You have now upped your monthly outlay to your phone company from 30 bucks a month to 90 dollars a month.  They then start to take over your "clean" line, so they try to sell you a cell phone package.. and the cycle continues...
