Indonesia’s Praveen Jordan and Didit Juang surged into Men’s Doubles main round as they defeated compatriots, Lukhi Apri Nugroho and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the qualifying round of the 2011 Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold, in Indonesia, on Tuesday, September
27.
The spirited pair of Praveen and Didit emerged as the winners in a wonderful rubber-set battle against their country-mates, by taking just 33 minutes in the court. They lost the first game with a narrow margin but bounced back in the match and clinched the
following two sets to make their mark on Lukhi Apri and Kevin Sanjaya in an impressive manner.
The start of this qualifying-round contest was thrilling, as both pairs played attacking badminton. The cracking sounds of the smashes from both sides could be hear anywhere in the huge indoor arena.
Praveen and Didit struggled to level the score in the opening set as their opponents were playing a better game. Until the interval, Lukhi Apri and Kevin Sanjaya were leading the match by an 11-8 margin.
After the break, Lukhi Apri and Kevin Sanjaya continued their domination in the set by playing fast and perfect badminton. Praveen and Didit also lifted up their level of play, but failed to tackle the planned strategy of their rivals and lost the game by
a difference of 19-21 in 13 minutes.
In the following game, Praveen and Didit made a powerful comeback by playing on a different level. They remained ahead of their challengers in the whole set by displaying their wonderful skills and won the second game without any trouble with a 21-12 score,
in just 9 minutes.
The third game was thrilling in the start as both sides progressed closely in the match. The score remained equal until the concluding phase of the final set. It was a nerve-wrecking fight as both pairs were showing aggression in the court and finally, Praveen
and Didit played a positive game and won the set by a 21-18 score in just 11 minutes.
The end result of this Men’s Doubles rubber-set match was 19-21, 21-12 and 21-18.
