  1. Yes.  This means having no knowledge of the correlation between a thing and the pain it causes.

  2. Hmm... my favorite phrase. It sure is!

  3. Only until it bites you in the backside. The consequences of whatever it is you are ignorant about, and therefore did not take steps to prevent, can be even more devastating if you are unprepared and, in your eyes, betrayed by something you naively trusted. Ignorance can only be bliss if there is no chance of anything bad happening to one personally. Example- if I can do nothing about the a drought and starving people in another country, ignorance is bliss. But if the food in my grocery store becomes scarce because of it, it would be more blissful to know the cause.

  4. Well SOMEBODY just learned a bunch of new words.

  5. Yes. Those who are knowledgeable cannot be happy in times like these where we are barraged by advertisements of saving the dying people in Darfur, saving the world from global warming, hearing news stories constantly how many people are dying in Iraq, how cell phones will cause brain cancer, etc. There is so much negative out there, one cannot be blissful if he does not ignore them.

  6. Ignorance is bliss if you know you're ignorant about something.

It's better to be ignorant than to pretend you know something.

Pretending will leave you uneasy, and it's just denial.

    That's not bliss.

    Ignorance is bliss!

    ;)

  7. Not in every situation, especially outdoors. One needs to know the dangers of driving at high speeds or drink-driving, swimming at a beach, weather, overloading in small boats, the use of life-jackets and what precautions to take at 'abandon ship', staying in a small cave with a bon-fire/ carbon monoxide present, etc. In all these instances a good knowledge would save not only your life but also your loved ones.

It is not necessary to read and watch about all the depressive news around the world regarding tragedies everyday, as they make one moody. Only the relevant information that directly  affect our life is good enough--knowledge about health, exercise, financial tips, for example. So ignorance is bliss only to a certain extent.

  8. Yes, but not in the way you may understand ignorance. What i mean to say is that ignorance being bliss as the ignorace of Zen is throwing out your knowledge and seeing things as they truly are. Things dont label themselves as people do. They just are thus. They dont have definitions. People have no titles truly, no names, we are not even humans, where did the name humans come from can you tell me. I will tell you where it came from, it comes from us. It is false it is not what we truly are, we dont know what we really are we are ignorant of our true name. Who would give it to us? It is not a bad thing we need some names to communicate but i assure you our names we give ourselves are as false as the walls of a room. They serve some purpose yes but the purpose they serve is to utilize what is inside. People have been taking their words for ultimate, that is IGNORANCE in the way you may have meant. It is false bliss, When you realize you are ignorant of all things and can only view reality and cannot in anyway truly define anything at all. That ignorance which is the true nature of all things is true bliss. But i am using words to communicate that which cannot truly be communicated, you have to experience it for yourself. Try to view all things without their labels without those rambling thoughts that go through your head when you see something.

Try to See. But you cannot think about it at all, the first thought you have will destroy it.

  9. As far as I know, it is.

  10. Not necessarily!

Sometimes a little knowledge goes a long way. At the other extreme, the facts can present problems. And truth is always welcome.

So the median position for me would be: ask the question "Ignorance of what?"

  11. Yes...ignorance was blissful.

As a child who forms his own views and creates his own world with little outside influence, in comparison to age and growth.  The main aspect to this is loss.  What is lost along the way, is often times hard and/ or impossible to get back.

However, blissfullness can be found in many areas, and moments throughout life...

  12. ...it is for me...i have responsibilities, own a home, pay my bills and taxes...

...enjoy going to the beach, watching movies and having a good time...

...for me ignorance is bliss...thanks for asking...

  13. no. it is better to know so that you can deal with things head on. hiding your head in the sand is only going to get you hurt. be bold, if your life is going badly you may as well enjoy the beauty of it's destruction. sometimes in the starting over you find where you should have started in the first place.
