Salamu alakum brothers and sisters

I usually have a doctor appointment, which is in another city and during the stops (major intersections) I once made prayer near the side walk on the grass, once I was finish, EVERY single person in those cars were looking at me. I'm an extremly SHY person. Other then that time I never prayed in public.

My question is, how can I come over this so called "Fear", because I will have to pray in public today, during Duhur because I will not make it back home on time

Please Brothers and Sisters don't make rude comments, and thank you for all the help

  1. In my opinion, It's not right for a women to pray like that and bring attention to herself from non mehram (however you spell it lol) That's why women pray behind men in a mosque, so that men do not have a distraction.

But anyway.. In Islam when traveling you are allowed to miss your Namaaz and pray Kazaa after. Just be sure to pray the Kazaa and it's fine :)

  2. u can say ur namaz in the bus or what ever medium of travel is being used

  3. Wa alaykum asalaam sister. I live in Canada too, so I know how uncommon it is to not only find a Muslim praying in public, but anyone, really.

I believe that you are excused from haivng to pray on time, since you are travelling to another city. So therefore you can make up your prayers later on.

    Inshallah your health improves, sister.

EDIT: personally, and this is a personal choice for me, I owuldn't want to pray in public because I don't want men leering at me when I pray. Even though I am covered, they will still look, and since the majority of men are non-Muslim, they probably wouldn't avert their gaze.

  4. If that other city is far enough, then you have permission to shorten your prayer and even combine prayers. Otherwise, you can pray it early before you leave for the appointment if you fear that you'll lose its time. And Allah (swt) knows best.

Just keep in mind that Rasul Allah (saaw) said that the best prayer of a woman is in her house.

  5. You know that during Traveling Salat is not Farz.

  6. oh my lord u are to islamic u say ur 5 times prayers and even in public places and pls dont tell me u wear a nikab  any where  in islam u can say ur prayers as kaza meaning u can say them later even if the time has passed. and u don't have to say them in public places and if u want to them and ur afraid then just think that u are the only one there and think about Allah that he is proude bcz u are spreading islam

BTW i am not that islam and don't know the detail's but this is what i know so sorry and i have havent said my prayers for ages

  7. Pray in your car!  I don't think you should draw attention to yourself like that...

  8. ehhhh I'm a Torontonian:D...If you travel 72 or more kilometres distance; you are classified as a musaffir. If not, then no. Only these people can shorten there prayers like (for fardh):

    Fajr: 2 rakaats (same thing)

    Zuhr: 2 rakaats

    Asr: 2 rakaats

    Mughrib: 3 rakaats

    Esha: 2 rakaats

The other rakaats that were not performed must be made qadha at a different time when the musaffir has finished his/her travel. I have this book that has more info about musaffir (I can't find where it is though:S). I'll try looking into that and let you know when I find it insha Allah

PS If you are shy and travel by bus or car...why not pray there?

May Allah accept your efforts insha Allah
