1. isolate the variables to one side of the equation, and the rest to the other...

    let's put all terms of "x" on the left side, and move the rest to the right..

    inorder to move them, use the opposite function.

    4-2x=3x-6

    move 4 to the right side: 4-4-2x=3x-6-4

                                             -2x = 3x - 10

    now move the x to the left side of the equal sign:

                               -2x - 3x = 3x -3x -10

                            -5x = -10

    divide both side by -5 to isolate x by itself

                        -5x/-5   =        -10/-5

                                 x = 2

    check by subing your answer back into the original:

       4 - 2 (2) =?= 3(2) -6

         4 - 4 =?=  6 -6

            0 =0     check

    so your answer is   x = 2

  2. 4-2x = 3x-6

    first way

    4-2x = 3x-6

    -4           -4

    -2x=3x-10

    -3x  -3x

    -5x=10

    ----------

        5

    -x=2

    x=-2(since x cant be negative)

    2nd way

    4-2x = 3x-6

    +6          +6

    10-2x=3x

        +2x +2x

    10=5x

    ---------

        5

    2=x
