The most anticipated contest of all time hasn’t yet started but the hot gossips have put fuel over the flames. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho was attacked upon his team’s arrival at Barcelona. More than 2000 Real fans were there at the airport to support
Mourinho and his team.
The trouble flared up with the team’s arrival at Ray Juan Carlos hotel. Barca and Real supporters were there to cheer their teams. A small group of Barca fans, as known as Boixos Nois, threw stones and bottles over the team officials. Coach came out of the
bus when fans threw bricks and bottles on him. As a result, the glass of the window was shattered by Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul Albiol’s seat. The team narrowly escaped the bricks whereas one of team’s security official was hit on the back of his neck.
El Classico, as known as The Classic, is a fierce encounter between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. They contest bi-annually in Spanish La Liga and maximum of nice matches are played by each team in a year. Both the clubs are successful and share the legacy
as Madrid and Barcelona are two big Spanish cities. Real Madrid has won 73 trophies and Barcelona 68 as of now. Another reason of the rivalry is the geo – politics where Madrid represents Spanish Nationalism and Barcelona Catalan Nationalism.
Barca’s Xavi Alonso said, “Winning a game against Real Madrid is like winning a casino and I remember when we beaten Real
Madrid few years ago by 6-2, it was fun watching their expressions that said it all.”
Inter Milan and Chelsea also defeated FC Barcelona under Jose Mourinho’s supervision. Mourinho considers himself as ‘Persona non grata’ in Barcelona as this was expected by him.
