Pre-Qualifying round for Ricoh Women’s British Open is now over
The pre-qualifiers for the Ricoh Women’s British Open were held on Monday, August 27. The results were very encouraging. The final list of the qualifying players will be decided after the qualifying round on September 10.
The pre-qualifying round is held to whet out players with lesser abilities’. The purpose is to provide every entry a fair and level, playing field. The top players easily go through this stage and the lesser skilled players usually fail to carry through.
This year’s pre-qualifying round was held at the Berkshire Golf Club. The excellent golf course provided a great backdrop to the skilled professionals and amateurs who came in with hopes of playing in the top British golf event of the year.
The final leaderboard of the round was very interesting and indicated that the next round will be even more thrilling to watch.
The top player was Emily Taylor from England. It is fitting that the winner of the qualifying round of the top British golf event is a Briton.
The next place went to the Spanish player Tania Elosegui, who scored 68 points. Her performance included an eagle and four birdies. Two bogeys marred this great performance.
The third place went to the Danish player Lisa Sorensen, who posted a 2-under-70 points. She started off with a bogey on her first hole. This haunted her throughout the event and she ended up in the third place, despite a great performance. She hit three
bogeys that were countered by five birdies.
The 13th place appeared to be most crowded by the qualifying players. Twelve players tied for this position with a score of 1-over 73. The players scored a similar number of birdies and bogeys and the mix of these two items did not vary much for
these players.
The list was cut off at the 25th place. Nearly thirty players made the cut and will play in the next round.
The Ricoh Women’s British Open is a highly anticipated event that has the whole of the golf world buzzing. Fans and experts are eagerly awaiting the chance to see their favourite stars in action at the Royal Liverpool, from September 13 to 16.
