I delivered my little girl by c section at 30 weeks due to severe pre eclampsia. I was still having blood pressure issues a week later, so they keep me on the procardia xl and increased the dosage from 60 mg to 90 mg. It has been 3 weeks and 4 days since delivery and I and experiencing extreme dizziness and vision disturbances. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon. Will my blood pressure ever go back down and could I be experiencing post partum pre eclampsia?

  1. call the OB -pre eclampsia is a condition affecting pregnant women only.  you are having side effects to the pregnancy.  go to the ER if you cannot get ahold of the OB.

  2. Pre eclampsia can stay after you give birth, though it usually doesn't.  your doc is probably keeping a close eye on you and can answer your questions better than anyone here.

My BP stayed very high for nearly two weeks after giving birth, and I was on medication, too.  The meds were what made me feel dizzy and gave me vision problems.

Most women who experience this do return to normal after a little while.  I was told that if my blood pressure didn't come down I would be put back in the hospital, but it lowered on it's own eventually.  make sure you talk to your doctor and ask all of your questions.  Tell him about your symptoms.  Maybe you need a different medication.

Good luck; I hope the baby is doing all right.

  3. sure it will, but right now ypur having some serious drama. I work in Labor and delivery, and the next time u get vision blurriness, u need to go to the er. Thats a sign that ur bp is way 2 high. Talk to ur doctor about changing your meds
