  1. NO kinder or Pre-K is requried to attend. Although it is preferd to train the children to get in a habit of shareing, communication, working together with others, social skills.

  2. it was not required for pre k.for the kindergarden i think it was important for all kids to learn and discover or even have friends.every kids are difference from another.every parents want the best for their kids.if you became smarter from others,it might be because you were born smarter.

  3. I don't think that Pre K is required in any state.

As for K, it's not required in some states, but for other states it is.

In GA, the kids have to start school at 6, but always start K at 5.

The parents think this IS a law but it's NOT.

  4. You sound like an Unschooler at heart.  Read John Holt (any of his books) and do a web search for unschooling.  Some interesting stuff!

Also, Kdg is not mandatory in most states (lots of people don't know that).  Do a search for your region's education code to find out ages for compulsory schooling.

You had the opportunity to just live and learn as a young person, and your peers were getting the love of learning drummed out of them in Kdg.

  5. I went to Kindergarden, but not pre K. I know pre k is not required, But I thought Kindergarden was? I don't know...

  6. The answer to your question varies among school districts. Most do require kindergarten but not pre k. I went to kindergarten back in 1971. I'll never forget the mean old lady who made us write upper and lower case alphabet and numbers 1-100 EVERY day. Miss Pettit was her name. Of course, things have changed quite a bit since those days. Kids don't have to work nearly as hard at school. Dumbing down. And, yes, those video games were part of the difference. If you can read well, you can learn anything else.

  7. Neither is required.  However, if a child is going to attend public school for first grade, it's usually better if they start in Kindergarten.  Although I never was a student in Kindergarten (overcrowded classes back then, so spaces were by lottery), I taught it for several years.  Attending kindergarten usually gives the child the advantage of learning about the school environment, making friends, and learning some specifics before he/she has to start officially in first grade.  Since it's free and not required, I suggest trying it, and if it's good, stick with it.  If it's not good, you can always take the child out and wait until first grade.
