Pre-k programs in Minneapolis, MN?

I am looking to put my child in a pre-k program but I can't afford to pay 200 a month. Why is it that there is not assisant program and only families with money are aloud access of this.

  1. you may want to look into subsidized programs. you can either access subsidized day care information directly through the state OR you can go specifically to the preschools you are interested in. when you you call the preschools, you can ask if they offer any scholarship programs or any subsidized programs. you also might want to contact your local Head Start office. even if you do not qualify (if you make too much money), they can probably point you in the right direction to find an affordable preschool program.

    also, more and more states are moving towards having pre-k opportunities avaliable to all children. all states already have Head Start. it's a federally funded preschool program. but more states are starting their own pre-k programs for families who do not qualify for Head Start but still can not afford preschool on their own. i know PA and FL have started them for sure. i'm not sure of other states. you can call your local school district and ask if they are offering any pre-k programs and if they are, how to sign your child up for it.
