  1. In TN, we have a Kiwanis center where therapist can work with the children with delays.  This is usually covered by insurance.  My son went there for speech therapy.  The public school system also can work with your child through the special ed program if he has delays.

Also consider preschools where you have to pay.

know the Head Start program in TN follows this rule when allowing children in if only one classroom is available in the area:

1st priority:  4 year olds income eligible

2nd:  4 year olds over income limits

3rd:  3 year olds income eligible

4th:  3 year olds over income limits

In some areas there is such a demand that the list doesn't make it past the 1st priority category.

  2. I know here in Texas, at least in our area, people have those difficulties with preschool in the public school districts.  It is based first on needs and then on income.  Have you tried going to a daycare/childcare center?  A lot of times they will have preschools in daycares.  At the daycare I work at, we have preschool in the morning, and we allow parents to bring their kids solely for preschool and pick them up at 11 when preschool is over.  You may want to look into that if you haven't!
