The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is an invaluable resource for issues like this.  Their website is:

Just search behavior and you will find great researched-based information.  Become a member and you will receive six issue per year of their magazine "Young Children," as well as discounts on conferences and such.

This is a resource I can't remember if I found through NAEYC or somewhere else, but it helped our preschool teachers IMMENSELY with various behavior and classroom management issues (and it's all free!):
