The Argentine tactician shared that unresolved issues regarding player contracts during the summer transfer window is having an impact on their La Liga adventures.
Espanyol have had the worst possible start to the 2012/13 La Liga season with three defeats to show for their outings. The Catalan club have failed to exert themselves throughout the course of their domestic fixtures, paying dearly for their complacency
in the final stretch of league meetings.

He stated that uncertainty about the squad affected their preparations for the league campaign, claiming that they are paying
dearly now as a result.
The Argentine international shared that coaches like to have a set squad before the start of the season, but Espanyol have had a difficult time in deciding on their roster, waiting until the final minutes of the transfer window to finalize their dressing
room numbers.
Pochettino claimed that the financial problems of Los Parakeets ruled their transfer moves late into the transfer window limit. He added that it is a pattern that has been recurring at Estadi Cornella-El Prat for quite some time now.
Likening to the events of 2011 summer transfer window, Pochettino stated that alarm bells are ringing right now because of their league results, something that should have happened last year as well.
The Argentine claimed that the fans are gloomy at the moment and they have every right to be in such a mood.
“Every Coach wants to determine the squad before the League starts, but we have only done so several days afterwards and this brought with it difficulties.”
“The circumstances are as they are and the economic situation affects this. We cannot influence this.”
“Do you see alarmism? Last year we experienced a similar situation, but the results were different. Good results can cover a lot. Now there is nothing to generate a positive mood, from any structure at the club.”
While answering remedies to their current situation, Pochettino stated that Espanyol are improving in their performances in recent friendlies during the international break, and believes they should prove themselves to the fans again.
 “I liked the group’s awareness in their friendly yesterday. We must show strength and capture the fans’ again.”
