  1. Sounds like regular pregnancy aches and pains, nothing out of the norm.  Contractions are menstrual like cramps and a strong tightening around your belly like someone is squeezing the life out of you.  What you describe are regular pregnancy discomforts.  Just relax and take a warm bath, that should help with the hip and back pain.

  2. Here are warning signs of preterm labor:

    Menstrual-Like Cramps

(constant or come-and-go, just about the pubic bone)

    low, dull backache

    (constant or come-and-go)

    Pressure

(feels like the baby is pushing down, feels heavy)

    Abdominal Cramping

    (with or without diarrhea)

Increase or change in vaginal discharge

    (mucosy, watery, light, or bloody)

    fluid leaking from the v****a

    feeling bad

uterine contractions that are 10 minutes apart or closer

    (may be painless)

These are from my checklist given from my obgyn.  This is my second pregnancy, with my first I did go into pre-term labor, before hand I wasn't feeling the greatest, having cramps and lower back pain.  Then I started having contractions that started about every 3 minutes apart after feeling like I was leaking fluid.

Just remember those symptoms can be a just symptoms of pregnancy, or they could be something else.  I was told if I had those symptoms to call my birthing center, which I did.......it was good thing I did.  Honestly it wouldn't hurt to call up and talk to your ob or midwife about your symptoms.  They may want to see you, but at least then you'd have some reassurance.  Best of luck to you.
