Preapproved credit card offers?

They ask you to make changes to your address if needed. Why do they do that if your mail is already going to your right address.

  1. They ask because you might want your bill to be sent to another address like a P.O. box or some other kind of address. Also, identity thieves can do just about anything these days. When you get this offers I advise that you find some kind of way to shred or cut them off.

  2. They ask because they often get it wrong ... people move houses / flats and their records take time to correct .. and yes, many ID thieves have a field day with such 'pre-approved' offers .. ESPECIALLY when the morons sent it to your OLD address ...

    The worse offenders (in my opinion) are the ones who send out pre-printed 'credit card cheques' attached to your Statement .. a lot of people still throw this away without realising that ANYONE can pick up the 'cheque' from the bin or rubbish tip, maybe years later, and fill it in ..
