Predicted Squad of England in the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil
We all saw how the English were disappointed at the end of the FIFA World Cup 2010. They faced a humiliating defeat against the Germans, when they knocked the English side out of the World Cup with a 4-1 win. The English side was facing too many problems
throughout the world cup and were not playing at their best. They drew the match against the underdogs, Algeria and went home after a disappointing performance. Most of the headlines read that the English have lost this world cup and have lost the “golden
generation” to win it.
The current coach for the English side, Fabio Capello, will still be the coach for the European giants, in the next FIFA World Cup and he will still continue with the old 4-4-2 style of play. Fans still do not understand why Capello doesn’t change his way
of playing and they criticize him over his “bad counter-attacking” techniques.
The goalkeeper of the English team, David James, would be 39 years old and would not be a part of the English squad, as the team would go to Brazil in 2014. He actually did not manage well at the back, anyway, so he is not going to be missed much by the
English fans. Therefore, Joe Hart is going to be the perfect replacement for the English Number 1 at the moment. Joe Hart already impresses many and he will be ready to play for his country in 2014.
Talking about defenders, many of the current fullbacks would be definitely retired by the year 2014. The legendary defenders, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand are amongst the retired names. There are only two Centre backs left that can play for the English side
and they would be Dawson, who is going to be 30 by that time and Cahill, who is going to be 28 and fit enough to play for his country. At right back, there is no one better than Glenn Johnson. Ashley Cole, however, would not be present at the left-back position
and would not be a part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Therefore, the very young, Gibbs is going to take his place.
In the midfield, if the English side decides to put a formation of 4-4-2, just like the FIFA World Cup 2010, then they have less talent in the mid; though, there is a huge doubt about Frank Lampart or Steven Gerrard being a part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
They would be in their 30’s and they might be able to play, but only as a substitute. Problems will occur as Capello would be selecting his squad because a lot of young talent would have to be exploited in the next FIFA World Cup. Milner and Johnson as wingers
would be perfect for the English side along with Wilshere and Cattermole in the midfield to support the attackers.
Defoe, upfront, would be gone by the time the next world cup will start therefore; Moses would have to prove himself as a good finisher. The Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney, would definitely be there as a striker, because of his amazing finishing
ability; even though he failed to score a goal in this FIFA World Cup. Other players that might attract the selection committee could be Theo Walcott, who is a young talent and was left behind this year, and Wright Philips was taken instead. Along with Walcott,
Lennon would definitely be a part of the bench and so would be Rodwell, who is going to be 23 years old and definitely would be a player to look out for.
So, the starting line-up of the English squad would probably be:
Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Dawson, Gibbs, Milner, Wishere, Cattermole, Johnson, Rooney, Moses.
Substitutes: Loach, Mancienne, Rodwell, Steven Gerrard, Lennon, Walcott, Agbonlahor.
