Predicted squad of Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil
We all saw how the Spaniards impressed all the football fans around the world by winning the FIFA World Cup 2010 after defeating the Dutch who had a 34 “all-winning” streak. Even though the Spanish team did not manage to win against the Swiss, everyone saw
how the amazing young talent came out on top for the European side. They had never won the FIFA World Cup and this year round they overcame the odds by winning it after coming into the final for the first time.
The current coach for the Spanish side, Vicente del Bosque, might still be the coach for the Spaniards in the next FIFA World Cup and he will still continue with the tiki-taka passing and patient football. Fans who fear their patient style, should still
be scared because the Spaniards will continue playing like this, as most of the Spanish players would be the same in Brazil 2014.
The goalkeeper and the captain of the Spanish team, Iker Casillas, would only be 33 years old and would still be part of the Spanish squad, as the team would go to Brazil in 2014. He actually did a marvellous job at the back, as the goals that he conceded
were usually defensive mistakes. Victor Valdes, Pepe Reina and the young David de Gea of Athletico Madrid will also be good options.
Talking about defenders, many of the current fullbacks would be definitely retired by the year 2014. Carles Puyol, Carlos Marchena and Joan Capdevilla are amongst the retired names. Even though there is, still uncertainty of the left, back spot, centre back
is just filled with amazing defensive talent. Gerrard Pique along with Sergio Ramos will continue their job and they might get accompanied by Cesar Azpilicueta, Nacho Monreal, Mikel San Jose and Alvaro Dominguez; who have shown amazing form in the past season.
In the midfield, if Spaniards decide to put a formation of 4-2-3-1, just like the FIFA World Cup 2010, then they have plenty of talent in the mid; though, there is a huge doubt about Xavi Hernandez being a part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He would be 34
and he might be able to play because his game does not really require too much speed and power. The problem would definitely occur while the Spanish side is selecting the squad because they have amazing young talent coming up, as the road to FIFA World Cup
2014 is going to start. Cesc Fabregas, along with David Silva and Juan Mata, are going to be great options for the midfield. Frank Merida and Sergio Canales will also be waiting for their spot in the wings. However, no one can be sure how they perform after
4 years.
David Villa, upfront, would be gone by the time the next world cup will start therefore; Pedro would have to prove himself as a good finisher. David Villa would be 32 and would probably not be a full-time player for the Spaniards however; the Athletic Bilbao
player Munian would be a good option for the Spanish side as he had a pretty good season this year.
Fernando Torres, on the other hand, would be 30 and he might redeem himself by playing in the starting line-up for the Spaniards and scoring a few goals at that age. Other players that might attract the selection committee could be Roberto Soldado, who might
be of age during that year but he is an amazing player. Besides him, Bojan Krikic of Barcelona has impressed enough during this season as he played throughout the season as a power-sub for the Spanish club.
Therefore, the starting line-up of the Argentinean squad would probably be:
Reina, Sergio Ramos, Pique, Albiol, Monreal, Navas, Fabregas, Busquets, Iniesta, Pedro, Torres.
Substitutes: De Gea, David Silva, Bojan, Canales, San Jose, Muniain, Llorente.
