Predicting Starting 11 for Manchester United (Part 4)
Antonio Valencia (Right Winger)
There are many players who haven’t really impressed by scoring goals but they are still an important part of the team. Valencia is definitely an example of such players. Antonio Valencia is one of those wingers, who don’t really make a run inside the 18-yard box but they do give pinpoint crosses. Valencia is currently playing as a right winger for the club as he had to replace a player like Cristiano Ronaldo. Many thought of him as a “waste of money,” but many think that he is an amazing asset to the club. Antonio Valencia does not score too many goals for the team even though he plays as a right winger, but he still manages to give pinpoint crosses, as he has helped a lot of strikers in scoring goals. Valencia was bought by Sir Alex Ferguson last year when the club was suffering from the loss of their most important asset, Cristiano Ronaldo. With Ronaldo gone many thought that it is not going to be an easy task for Manchester United but Wayne Rooney was able to help the team be alive. Although it was all Wayne Rooney when it came down to scoring goals; Antonio Valencia was one of those players who were properly assisting the English striker in scoring goals to help the team win more games. Valencia is definitely going to be the first choice for Sir Alex Ferguson as his quick feet have helped the Red Devils win a lot of games. The way he makes runs from the right and the way he cuts in to the 18-yard box so that he can cross the ball; it is just simply “fabulous!”
Dimitar Berbatov (Supporting Striker)
He is one of those players who haven’t really managed to impress the fans by scoring goals. Even though he plays as a striker or a centre forward, he still did not manage to score too many goals for the club. Sir Alex Ferguson bought him from Tottenham Hotspurs, when he was at the top of his game but when he came to Manchester United, he did not really score goals like he used did. With a position in which the players are “required” to score goals; Berbatov still manages to create amazing passes to the other strikers or players so that they manage to score one at least. Many call him “unlucky,” as he worked too hard during the previous season but still didn’t really manage to put too many goals on his tally; even though he did score one of the best goals of the season where he was able to use his acrobatic skills to help the ball go inside the net. His “trade mark” move just like every other striker was his back heal. He used to help pass the ball with this amazing talent that he possessed. He is going to be the first choice for Sir Alex Ferguson, although Javier Hernandez is also going to be a part of the squad. It is either going to be Hernandez or Berbatov when the Red Devils are going to take their positions on the field.
Wayne Rooney (Centre Forward)
One of the players who impressed all the Manchester United fans; Wayne Rooney managed to bag himself a good 26 goals during the last season. With Cristiano Ronaldo gone from the Manchester United squad, Wayne Rooney was the player who took control of the team with his amazing form, as he did not manage to get an injury until late season and managed the team well, while he kept on scoring goals for them. Despite the fact that he did not get the golden boot award, and was only a “runner up” during the race to it; he still managed to score a lot of important goals for the team. He showed great dedication for the club, as he played against Bayern Munich, although he had an injury. With all those amazing stats in line, Wayne Rooney still could not perform well with the English squad, when he came back from the FIFA World Cup 2010 as a failure and did not manage to score even a single goal. The English fans still boo him because of his horrific performance, and he is definitely going to need that “confidence” back when he comes down on the field. With so much happening to him after the FIFA World Cup 2010, Sir Alex Ferguson is still going to consider his number 10 for the job and he is going to send him down to the pitch to face big teams like Chelsea and Arsenal.
