Predicting starting 11 for Manchester City, Defence analysis
Aleksandar Kolarov (Left Back):
Manchester City bought the Serbian left back from the Italian club Lazio. Kolarov is a pretty good package if you talk about left backs. There are not many good left backs in the market but Kolarov stands out. The Serbian player was not a part of the FIFA World Cup 2010 but still he is a pretty good addition to the team. Roberto Mancini definitely has good plans for him and he is definitely going to be a part of the starting line-up when the team is going to take its position on the field. Aleksandar Kolarov had a pretty good season last year with Manchester City and this time he is going to be even better because of the additions that have been brought into the team. The Serbian left back has amazing skills when he is given the ball. He has quick feet and he can easily move forward from the left flank to help the midfield and the strikers.
Jerome Boateng (Centre Back):
The German defender proved his skills as a right back during the FIFA World Cup 2010. He was bought by Manchester City in the recent signings that they made. Boateng could be a good fullback for the team and can easily work along with the team. During his time in Hamburg, he has impressed many even though he has scored only 1 goal throughout his career; and that is because his job is not to score goals but to defend the goals. Boateng is a pretty heavy centre back and can help the defence line with his aerial capabilities. The Italian coach Roberto Mancini is very talented and that is the reason why he selected such an amazing defender for his team.
Kolo Toure (Centre Back):
Kolo Toure actually started his career from the English club Arsenal and was transferred to Manchester City last year. He is pretty experienced and can do a great job as a full back. The reason why Barcelona’s defensive midfielder, Yaya Toure joined Manchester City was because of his brother, Kolo Toure. Extremely good at what he does and he is one of the best centre backs that Manchester City possess at this moment. He also has amazing aerial possession as he can head the ball to safety. He is one of those players who can easily come forward during set pieces and can help the team score a few goals with the help of his headers. Kolo Toure and Yaya Toure are expected to combine well this year as they both are simply amazing at what they do. The Ivory Coast player is definitely going to feature for the English club as he is simply amazing at what he does.
Micah Richards (Right Back):
Micah Richards is actually a centre back but he can easily feature as a right back for the club. He can seriously move the ball around with his quick feet and can help his team win matches by helping them by providing amazing crosses from the right flanks. The English player did not manage to be good enough to get selected for the English squad in the FIFA World Cup 2010 but he is good enough to be a part of Roberto Mancini’s starting squad. He joined Manchester City when he was only 14 years old and currently the youngster is only 22. He has already made 123 appearances for the English club and is one of those players who are actually “home grown” by Manchester City. He hasn’t scored too many goals for the club because he is not supposed to but he is definitely a difference maker if he is to play as a right back for the club. Roberto Mancini is definitely going to consider Micah Richards for his squad and he is definitely going to be a part of the squad this year round.
