Predicting the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals – Tennis Special
Finishing off the 2011 season, the Barclay ATP World Tour is full on fire as the world’s top eight players have made it to the yearend Championship. As per the gurus say, it is going to be a blood bath and nothing less. Although
the World No.1, Serbian, Novak Djokovic leading the board with a huge point lead, the podium finish is still an unpredictable spot.
Considering the performance of the world No.1 against the entire top list, Djokovic has an advantage overall; however, recently, he has been struggling with injuries. Calling it off Cincinnati against the Brit world No.3, Andy
Murray, and letting down his country at the Davis Cup against Juan Martin Del Potro, the world No.1 is not an unbeatable entity.
However, his fixtures against the world No.2 Rafael Nadal have always ended in a win for the Serb. Might as well be the most fierce rivalry in history, the two have been ousting each other numerous times. Having played 29 matches
against each other, the Spaniard leads the rivalry with 16 wins and Djokovic with 13.
However, the world No.1 has blasted the Spaniard in their last 6 fixtures and surprisingly all of the fixtures where final round matches. Counting the number of finals the two have played, we get the number 11. Same is the number
for the times the two have played each other in semi-final rounds.  Considering the above numbers it certainly proved a bigger rivalry than that of Federer- Nadal.
With the Brit making it up as the third seed in the ATP rankings, he surely has proved himself worthy of his spot. Comparing the Brit with the world No.2, Nadal, the Spaniard has a strong 13 to 6 lead. However, Murray has made
his mark winning the Asian Trio, Thailand Open, Tokyo Open and the Shanghai Masters in which the world No.2 came across the fiery Brit and got burnt losing the Rakuten Open title.
The fourth in line is the Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer. Considered to win the tour as he has one last shot left to end his career in fame, Federer is the only player to finish off the world No.1 winning and playing the complete
match. Leading the head-to-head 14 to 10, Federer is certainly one big shot everyone is scared to play.
Considering his loss at the US Open was something that the game makes had already decided off. How can a player of his class lose when he is up 40-0, 5-3 in second set, first set in his bag, and cannot finish off winning? The Swiss
only displayed the fact that he can win as he was on match point; however, he let the Serb win to continue his winning streak.
After the top 4, there stands David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Mardy Fish that are less likely to make any impact in the finals. Tsonga, Frenchman, is capable of upsetting the tournament as he has played and
survived most the top shots.
However, considering that the Swiss Maestro is defending his championship and is in perfect form as he pulled of the Shanghai Masters just to practice for London, he is most likely to defend his championship and win his first major
title of the year. If not the Swiss, then the Serb, Djokovic, is taking home his 11thtitle of the year.
