Predicting the Starting 11 for Real Madrid (Part 1)
Previous year, Real Madrid and Manchester City were the two teams that spent huge amount on signing new and talented players. Real Madrid has a history about signing outstanding players and bringing in good players for their side, to make the team strong. This is the reason why it is the “most” successful club in the history of the game. Real Madrid has won 31 Spanish La Ligas and 9 European titles, making it known as the “Champion’s League.”
Last season, Real Madrid signed the Manchester United top goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo had an amazing season at Manchester United and was expected to perform the same way in Real Madrid. He did not lose his reputation and was able to score 34 goals in 36 matches that he played. The Spanish Giants also bought the AC Milan “playmaker,” Kaka. It was expected that Kaka would perform exceptionally well in the upcoming matches, since his pre-season with the Spanish club was just miraculous. During the pre-season he was scoring goals and was moving the ball around as he was supposed to.
However, in the Spanish La Liga, Kaka just could not perform as well as he was supposed to, and failed to score many goals for the team. Although he tried his level best to make it to the top; he got injured and ended up on the bench during the end of the season. Just because of his injury, he couldn’t even perform during the FIFA World Cup 2010. Besides Kaka, Karim Benzema also couldn’t come up with a promising performance. Benzema, Kaka and Ronaldo’s combo looked deadly during the previous pre-season, but when Kaka and Benzema came to the field during La Liga, they just did not manage to score many goals. Instead, the Argentinean striker Higuain managed to get most of the goals, as he stole the spotlight from the French striker Benzema, leaving him on the bench for most of the season.
This year around, Real Madrid squad has undergone significant changes. They have replaced their manager, Manuel Pellegrini to one of the most successful managers of this century, Jose Mourinho. It was all Mourinho for the Italian Champions, Inter Milan, as he was their coach last year. The former Inter Milan coach helped them win 2 Cups and the Champion’s League, helping the players make it to the top in the football world.
With Mourinho coming to Real Madrid, their trophy-deprived seasons are definitely going to come to an end. Real Madrid currently holds a lot of talent; including the Portuguese captain, Cristiano. Jose has already bought a few talented players and is definitely going to change things for Real Madrid. Since Maicon and Ashley Cole are “not” going to be a part of Real Madrid next season; below are a few predications for the starting 11 for the Spanish Giants.
Iker Casillas (Goalkeeper):
If there is any man who made an “amazing” impact for Real Madrid, it is definitely Iker Casillas. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been playing for Real Madrid since he was a kid. Casillas was the captain of the Spanish team during the FIFA World Cup 2010, when 7 of Barcelona’s players were in the starting 11 of the Spanish side. The famous goalkeeper is very agile and his acrobatic skills help him block the ball from going inside the net. Last season, prior to the match between Real Madrid and Sevills, Iker was named as “World’s best goalkeeper.” Many criticized this honour, but he proved all of them wrong by showing his skill between the two poles and making marvellous saves throughout the match. Casillas even won the golden glove in the FIFA World Cup 2010 and was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament. There is no doubt that he is “one of the best goalkeepers” in the world. Iker Casillas definitely has a spot in the team, especially since he is Real Madrid’s captain.
