Predicting the Starting 11 for the Catalan Giants (Part 3)
Andres Iniesta (Attacking Midfielder):
When you need someone during the dying moments of the match, Iniesta is the man you are looking for. He has the reputation of a match saviour. He is one man who never comes under pressure and scores goals for his team, in the hour of need. Even though Iniesta had an injury season last year, this time round he is available for the team. Andres Iniesta was a nominee for the “player of the year” during his run in the 2008 and 2009 season. He made it to the top by starting off with Barcelona’s youth academy. André’s goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is considered to be one of the best goals of his career that helped his team qualify for the finals at the dying moments of the match. Recently, the top-notch player was able to add to his royals by scoring a goal for Spain, in the final match of the FIFA World Cup 2010. Spaniards were crowned Champions for the first time in the history of the game and while rejoicing the moments, Iniesta took his shirt off to celebrate for his country.
Lionel Messi (Right Winger):
One man who is considered to be a “legend” of this century is the Argentinean magician, Lionel Messi. With his quick short steps, he is able to beat most of the defences that Messi has played against. Lionel Messi is also from the Barcelona’s youth team and there is no end to his praises. Even though Lionel was not able to score any goal in the FIFA World Cup 2010, he still managed to make a lot of assists for his team. He currently possesses the “player of the year” award due to an amazing season last year and impressed many by scoring a record number of goals in Barcelona. Messi’s spot in the first team is “definite,” as he is doing all the work for his team when they are in dire need. The Argentinean is definitely a man who can turn the whole match around with just one hit from his side. Although he is given the position of a “right winger,” the magician still floats around the field to make his way past the opponent’s defence.
David Villa (Left Winger):
David Villa is the new entrant for the Spanish club. However, the Spanish striker’s playing position so far, has not been decided upon. Well, it is true that he scored 5 goals in the FIFA World Cup 2010, and was the highest goal scorer along with Thomas Muller, Diego Forlan and Wesley Sneijder. Critics argued that Ibrahimovic would not be able to prove himself, but things are going way different than anticipated for Barcelona. With such a talented strike force; players are going to switch roles with each other, as Messi is going to float around the field along with David and Zlatan. With Thierry Henry gone to New York Red Bulls, Villa is going to take his place as a left winger, while cutting in with his right foot to score goals. David Villa is a “huge” signing for the Spanish club and his chances for joining first team are radically high.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Centre Forward):
Ibrahimovic did not have a good season last year as he was able to score fewer goals when compared with the Barcelona’s youngster Pedro. He stayed away from the game for some time because of his injury. Most of the fans thought that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a “wrong move-in” for the club as Samuel Eto’o was sacrificed because of him, with Eto’o history of numerous goals for the Giants. This year round, Ibrahimovic is going to be given a full chance to prove himself as he could not do it in the previous season. No matter how many people say that Zlatan does not have a “spot” in the starting 11 because of competition; he is strong prospect in the eyes of Pep.
