Predicting the Starting 11 of Arsenal (Part 3)
Abou Diaby (Defensive Midfielder)
This time, Arsenal are definitely going to use a 4-2-3-1 formation for the team. This is because of the fact that they need two defensive midfielders to help their defenders. Last year, Arsenal’s defence went through a lot of ups and downs, not only because of their goalkeeper but also because they were well exploited. No one can forget how Lionel Messi totally destroyed Arsenal’s defence during their away leg when they visited Camp Nou. Messi was able to score 4 goals as Arsenal were left stranded. This year round, Arsene Wenger needs to change a lot to help his team at least win one trophy. With new teams like Manchester City on the rise, Wenger is definitely going to face tough competition. Therefore, he needs at least two defensive midfielders to change the course of the match. Abou Diaby should definitely be the first choice for the coach, as he has helped the team a lot of times and can easily help the midfield and the defenders during the match.
Alexandre Song (Defensive Midfielder)
With a formation that involves two defensive midfielders, Arsenal is going to require Song’s assistance. Alexandre Song is one of the best defensive midfielders for the Gunners as he is always included in their first 11, even when they are not playing two defensive midfielders. He was one of the outstanding performers during their previous season and he is definitely going to continue to play for the English team. The Cameroonian is a very consistent player and is also very useful for the Gunner. The Gunners always had a problem in this part of the field but now, with Song included in the first team, they do not really need anyone else to replace him. Alexandre Song performed really well throughout the last season and the Gunners expect him to keep his form in case they want to end their trophy drought this season. Song must be Arsene Wenger’s first choice as he is going to send down his men to face the opposition.
Cesc Fabregas (Centre Midfielder)
If Arsenal had to rely on one man, it is definitely their captain Cesc Fabregas. Even though Fabregas was involved in a transfer rumour away from the Gunners, he has committed his future to the English club and told the press that he wanted to win trophies with the Gunners. It all started when Cesc Fabregas admitted publicly that the wanted to join the Spanish giants. Most of the people know that he was a part of Barcelona’s youth academy and used to play alongside Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and even Andres Iniesta. When the summer transfer window was about to open, Barcelona players kept on commenting on Cesc’s move to their club and said that they are expecting him on their side. When all this was happening, the FIFA World Cup 2010 began and all the talks were left to die as the tournament commenced. Cesc Fabregas, the number 10 for the Spanish side, was living his dream as 8 of Barcelona’s players were in the Spanish squad during the FIFA World Cup 2010. With such amazing talent in the same team, the Spaniards won the tournament with Cesc giving out a pass to Andres Iniesta, who scored the winning goal of the match. Cesc Fabregas then told the press that he was proud to be an Arsenal player but was later found in a Barcelona jersey when his team-mates “forced” him to wear it. With talks still going on between the two clubs, Arsenal decided not to sell the player and Barcelona’s dreams of hijacking the player were shattered. Now the team totally depends on their captain who has decided to stay at the English club but no one is too sure whether he is happy with all this. It is totally up to him as he is the player who can totally change the cause of the game. He is currently the captain for the Gunners and he is definitely going to be a first choice for Arsene Wenger.
