Predicting the Starting 11 of Bayern Munich (Part 2)
Holger Badstuber:
The German youngster is still going to feature as a left back for Bayern Munich. The 21-year-old featured for the German Under-21 side and was even able to score 2 goals even though he is a left back. Badstuber ability to move forward from the left back to assist his team’s strikers and the way he comes back is simply fabulous. Holger is a part of Munich since 2006 as he was bought from SSV Ulm 1846 with an undisclosed price. Even though he is not very experienced to play in the first team but since Louis Van Gaal lives up to his reputation and plays youngsters to give them a chance; therefore, Badstuber is definitely going to be a part of the first team of Bayern Munich.
Martin Demichelis:
The Argentinean centre back did not really give his best during the FIFA World Cup 2010 as he was totally beaten by the Germans when the Argentineans lost the quarter-final match 4-0. His performance during the Champions League was simply amazing as he man marked Wayne Rooney perfectly and did not let him move a muscle during their home leg. Martin was the key man when it came to defence as he was the only experienced player that they had in the defence. Demichelis was able to impress the Argentinean coach during the selections as Diego Maradona selected him and took him to South Africa. He was the player who helped Bayern Munich reach the finals of the Champions League but he could barely help during the Argentinean campaign in the FIFA World Cup 2010 as he came back with a disappointed face. Even with such a bad World Cup performance in South Africa, Louis Van Gaal knows his importance in the defence and he is definitely going to be a part of the first team as a full back.
Daniel Van Buyten:
The second centre back is definitely going to be Van Buyten. He has helped the team go through thick and thin since he joined back in 2006. His previous club experiences include Hamburg, Manchester City and the French club Marseille. Daniel had a highly successful season at Munich last year and therefore Van Gaal is going to keep him in the first team. Van Buyten perfectly utilizes his aerial capabilities by winning the ball in the air and not letting his opponents score. Daniel even helped his team throughout their campaign in the Champions League and helped them reach the final match of the tournament. He is so good at heading the ball that he even managed to bag himself 13 goals as he moves forward when the team needs him during their set pieces. The Belgium international has been playing for his country since 2001 and he is probably going to take retirement from international football as he is too old to play for them. Louis Van Gaal is going to keep Van Buyten in his squad because of his experience and he is definitely going to feature in the starting 11.
Philipp Lahm:
Probably one of the best right backs in the world; his ambidextrous abilities helps him play on both sides of the defensive line, both left and right. Lahm is basically a right footed player but he is able to produce good long balls with his left foot as well. The 26-year-old German player has been a part of Munich since the start of his career back in 1995. Philipp Lahm played amazing football during his time with Germany in the FIFA World Cup 2010. He played as a left back, for them and used to help his team with great counter attacks as his quick feet used to help him with running quickly with the ball. He also plays a very key role in the defence of Bayern Munich as he can easily make a move forward from the right flank and he can help his strikers by putting in great crosses for them.
