Prediction, Floyd Mayweather vs. Father Time?

Question, will Floyd Mayweather become another Roy Jones Jr? I love Roy Jones Jr, but in my opinion he wasted a number of his prime years not fighting the prime fights and when father time caught him, he finally realized that his legacy wasn't secure.

So now at 39 he's trying to do things he should have done at 29. Floyd is wasting his prime years with wrestling, fighting smaller hand-picked opponents or Oscar DeLaHoya, and time is passing him by...will we see Floyd in 10 years with deminished skills trying to prove something he could prove now by facing the Cotto's Mosley's and Margarito's? Give me you thoughts?

Remember, Roy also said when he was younger that he'd walk away no problem...but now at almost 40 he fights on.

  1. I can see where your going with the comparison to Roy Jones.  Although, I'll give Mayweather a little more credit in terms of his opposition resume.  I think he's fought some solid opposition, but lacks a defining fight against the abundant talent that's available at welterweight.

I really dislike Floyd's decision to wrestle and all the other garabage in the prime of his career.  I understand he just has his business suit on, and is considering his financial situation.  However, after all he should be a prize fighter first and foremost in his dealings.

I'll give all the credit in the world to Floyd Mayweather, should he opt to fight a fierce challenge such as Miguel Cotto.  I also think fighters like Shane Mosley, although aged, could push Floyd to his limits.  It's a real shame Mosley vs. Mayweather couldn't have happend 5 or 6 years ago...

  2. I think floyd will beat father time and not have to worry about all that. Its all about the money hes filthy rich and wrestling isnt that big of a deal its only a couple months off hes still young.I mean 20 mil for wrestle mania ... can you really blame the man?  I just feel he will retire long before father time becomes a factor , i mean I honestly cant see mayweather having more than 3 or 4 more fights tops before retiring for good anyway. Regardless weather floyds last fights were against low risk opponents or whatever u wanna call them they were still big names he fought at least in his last 2 fights so people need to cut mayweather a little slack i dont see him fighting another bum before he retires he will only fight big names for the rest of his carear (big money fights). Hatton was low risk opponent , i think de la hoya was maybe low risk of making his face look ugly but not low risk of beating him. Where say miguel cotto i dont think has a great chance of beating mayweather but has a great chance of hurting him and making floyd not so pretty anymore and i think floyd is more scared of being hurt than actualy losing the fight. He doesnt  like to be hit in the face he enjoys looking at himself in the mirror too much.

  3. You're right, he gets the pound-for-pound title everywhere yet you don't see him fighting too many fighters in the same league as him.  Probably outta fear he might lose, it has come close w/ de la hoya and even Ali didn't go out undefeated

  4. IN ALL SPORTS, AGE IS THE GREAT EQUALIZER

  5. the dlh pbf fight was nowhere near close,1 judge gave it to dlh he must be blind. i had it 9-3 pbf in rounds

  6. the closest person i see not dodging any fight is oscar de la hoya... he wants big name fight... i can see why he is fighting mayweather again... the only time oscar asks for a rematch is when he felt he won... like mosely... but oscar has dodged no one, like the great ali.. though he lost by knockout before, that doesnt mean he sucks... oscar fought trinidad, hopkins, mayweahter, mosely, mayorga, and etc... though he lost most, they were great fights that made millions... and that's what made oscar the most powerful person in boxing right now... taking the big name fights, and making the big bucks... and being like ali.. if only he had won those matches, he is a great like ali..
