  1. The OP is right.  Steroids can cause the intraocular pressure to go up resulting in glaucoma.  Long term use can also cause a classic posterior subcapsular cataract.  Seen 'em many times.

  2. atcually you should stfu

  3. I knew this too, I have a close friend who is an eye surgeon.

  4. Are you  a doctor?

    are you a nurse?

Do you have any research to back up this statement?

You could frighten people making those statements without giving proof  and this is not the place to give out information like that unless a question about it has been posted.

Steroids like prednisolone can only be prescribed by a doctor. He will have a full medical history of the patient before he starts treatment of any kind, It is important that anyone on steroids carries a steroid treatment card - as with warfarin anyone on warfarin - the hospital prescribing will issue this.

The doctor will allso review the patient on a regular basis if  the patient is on long term steroids. He will also ensure the patient understands that he / she must not stop treatment immediately or before a review from the doctor.

Sometimes it is necessary to take prednisolone eye drops after eye surgery.

  6. Really?!?! I'm currently taking them for my hives!!! They are prescribed by my doc though...
