I know bullets dont make a huge differences its where you hit the animal, But i was just wondering what your favorite bullet was in terms of power, velocity, or just why you like it. I will be hunting moose and caribou this year with my 270. win model 70 and i just wanted to know so i can try some of the bullets out

  1. Always Match the ammo with the gun for example use win. shells in a win. gun and rem. in a rem. In my experience they seem to hold a smaller pattern

  2. I use sierra BTSP in 150 grain in my reloads movint at  2900fps. I've taken elk, mule deer, black bear, hog, and with the 130 grain I've taken antelope. I would be cautious using it on moose. It's may be light for that (and I'm a .270 fanatic) so Make darn sure of your bullet placement, and don't take a chancey shot. It should work great on caribou. Federal premium offers a similar load to mine. I site 1 1/2" high at 100 yards whch gives me the same point of aim from 75 yards out to 350 without worrying about hold over.

    Good luck and shoot safe

  3. The two (2*) best choices according to the Winchester 2008 Product Guide are the 130 grain XP3 or the 150 grain XP3  bullets for the kind of game you will be Hunting for with your 270 rifle.*~

  4. When shooting moose you want the heaviest bullet you can find which is 180 gr but since Caribou is a little smaller you could safely use a 150 gr bullet. Here is a link to more info. on the .270 http://www.chuckhawks.com/270family.htm
