Pregant llama?

We have 3 llamas we got them from people we know and they assumed that one of them was pregant is there any way of knowing

  1. A vet could run a sonogram and tell you for sure if it is necessary to know at once. The best thing would be to just wait and it will be obvious pretty soon.

    I have had llamas who are pregnant they dont get huge.. and we never did see them get an udder before giving birth (unlike our sheep who bag up weeks in advance)...

    you need to know WHEN she was bred.. they have 11-12 month gestation.. but you must keep males away because sometimes the young cria are killed if a male tries to breed her while she is giving birth - which he may do...

  3. llamas are in gestation for 11 1/2 months, there are two ways to se if she is pregnant, 1) get a vet to preform an scan 2) wait and watch for signs in later pregnancy which are;

    stomach "dropping"

    teats getting bigger

    milk excretion from teat

    nest building
