Just wondering if anybody ever had a vacuum aspiration procedure done after 16 weeks into their pregnancy? Is it even possible for this procedure to be done or is the fetus already too developed by then? Thanks.

Yes, you can.  for those who say no,  you must go to mexico, dont know the facts.  I am speaking as a citizen of massachusetts.  I was debating this myself.  i found out i was pregnant unplanned, and made an appointment for an abortion.  i went in, and found out i was a little over 16 weeks along.  Not only was I still offered the procedure, but i was told I could take a few weeks and think about it, and that it was no longer an option after 20 weeks.  So yes, here in MA, you can without medical reason up to 20 weeks.  I believe they will go up to 24 weeks if medical reason is present.  Sick.  I am a proud SINGLE and happy mom to a beautiful 11 month old little and and am so d**n glad i found out I was pregnant when I did.  Sooner, and I may have actually gone thru with it and the thought makes me sick.

Vacuum aspiration is pretty rare at 16 weeks - it can be done but its tricky - the problem is the fetus is too large.  Once you get into something like a d&e, you use vacuum at the later stages of the abortion, but not for the first part.  d&e is pretty common between 12 and 24 weeks.

16 weeks is pretty risky... It may be possible but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have never got one because i believe they are morally wrong but the fetus is developed enough by then that most docs wont do it but you may find one that will. it is possible to have it done. before 16 weeks you can take the pill which allows you to do it at home but after 16 weeks you have to go to a doctor that will do it. good luck finding one that will! personally i would never, ever do it besides it being morally wrong dont you think that the side effects of getting one done are pretty bad too?

I have not had this procedure done, but a friend of mine has.  I think leagally you can only have an abortion during your first trimester (3 months) unless you are in medical danger.  Oh and dont listen to that comment about "murdering your fetus" its your body.. you make the decisions based on what you feel is right.  Dont let anybody bully you into believing otherwise.

its only legal to have an abortion before your 3 months pregnant, or for the mothers health afterward

I don't think you can have an abortion after 16 weeks unless your doc finds grounds for it. Or unless you go to Mexico.
