Question:

Pregnancy and cat fleas?

sounds quite horrible, but my cats picked up fleas. i got them treated straightaway however there are still a few ghastly fleas hanging about the place! anyway my vet said the treatment he put on the cats should be fine for me (im now 13 weeks pregnant) but im a worrier. im concerned that if the fleas bite the cats and get this flea treatment into their bloodstream, then they go on to bite me... could this transfer into me?

sorry its such a weird question but anyone know?

thank you

  1. get rid of ur cats u dont want ur kid getting fleas when he.her is born right?

  2. If the flea has anything in its bloodstream, its not going to bleed on you when it bites you.  Don't worry about the meds getting transmitted--just worry about getting the fleas out of your house :)

  3. Don't worry... my cats, even though they're indoor, get fleas and treated monthly.  I'm 34 weeks pregnant and still no problems with them getting treated during my pregnancy!  (both of mine will bite, or nibble in play)

Sorry, I didn't read it right.  If the flea bites the cat while the cat has the treatment, it will die and won't be able to bite you anyways.  But if by some chance, one bit you, no, the medicine would not transfer into your blood stream.
