Pregnancy and spotting?

i'm 12 weeks pregnant, and every month around the time i should be getting AF i spot for about 5 or 6 days, mostly brownish but sometimes red. My doctor said everything is fine and he has no explanation for it.

Is this common?

Spotting early is common as long as its brown and not bright red.

I had brown spotting around 6-9 weeks and asked about it and it was fine. I have not had any since.

If your doctor is not worried then you are ok.

i've had quite a bit of bleeding in both my pregnancies and each time i was scanned to try and see where the bleeding was coming from... as above though if the doc isn't concerned then that should put you a bit more at ease, why not ask about a scan next time you see them
