Question:

Pregnancy with two different sperm possible?

I was thinking..

Let's say a girl...lets call her Rebecca, has a "fun" -wink- night with two different men...er George and Steve, and neither of them were wearing protection and she wasn't on the pill. ( I know! Who would be so careless but bear with me lol)

Okay so would it be possible for one of each mans sperm to penetrate the same egg? Thus resulting in a pregnancy where the twins have different fathers.

And I mean she have giggity goo with both men at the SAME time..>.>

Adventurous, no?

Well, gimme your thoughts!

  1. Usually once one sperm has penetrated an egg it builds up a resistance to more sperm. But if she has two eggs, then one of each man's sperm could penetrate one or other of the eggs, thereby giving twins with two different daddy's. I've heard of a syndrome where part of the body has different dna than other part and I think this might be caused by having two sperm in one egg, or maybe it only happens in identical twins. Either way, I don't think more than one sperm can get into the same egg.

  2. No this is not possible, only one egg can fertilise an egg.

  3. It's possible if there were 2 eggs (fraternal twins) but none with 1 egg (identical twins)

  4. it possible  for that to happen a lady had a black baby and then a white baby as twins for different baby daddys

  5. Its only possible to get pregnant by two seperate men if there are two seperate eggs. Once a sperm penetrates the egg the egg doesnt let in any more. So no, two sperm cant fertilize one egg.

  6. Uh.. NO. That wouldn't happen.

Only one sperm is the "winner". There's no such thing as a "tie" in pregnancy.

  7. not possible, once an egg is penetrated by sperm it doesn't accept input from any other sperm. However, if there were two eggs available to two different sperm that would be possible....but not really probable...

  8. The only way it would be possible to have twins with 2 different fathers would be if they were fraternal twins, then there would be 2 eggs.  It's impossible for 2 sperm to fertilize 1 egg.

  9. If they were fraternal twins, two different eggs, then yes it actually is possible. if they are identical then no.
