Question:

Pregnant, When do you switch pants under belly?

I'm a big girl, so I have a gut if you know what I mean. I'm 19 weeks pregnant, so the baby is going to be around my belly button soon. Lately I've been wearing my stretchy/lounge-type pants over my whole gut, but I know that I'm going to have to switch under it sometime so that they're not pressing on the baby. When do you usually start wearing your pants under?? Any good big-girl fashion ideas? I need to buy some long shirts! lol.

  1. get maternity pants, the elastic on the pants will be fine for the baby.

  2. I'm a big girl too, go to motherhood maternity, they have alot of great sales, and they have cute flare jeans that go over your whole stomach, you can't even tell they are maternity pants, same with the shirts, adorable!!!!

    Congrats!

  3. go to the thrift store or to walmart - i get my clothes from the thrift store it saves so much $$

  4. wear what is most comfortable for you at the time,i am 5wks 4 day and already i feel as if my pants waist are too tight so i leave them open, a belly band or maternity should do

  5. you dont ever have to switch, and your pants wont ever push on the baby

maternity pants can be cut to either go over or under your belly (or both) for your entire pregnancy

  6. There's no specific time to switch to maternity pants.  It's really whenever you feel your regular pants just aren't cutting it anymore.  I didn't start until I was around 6 months.  Until then, I did the whole Yoga pants and "rubber band around the front" thing.  :)  I also found that some of the maternity pants that cover the WHOLE belly are a bit more comfortable than the regular maternity pants.  It's all personal preference though. :)

  7. I have the same problem and am carrying my baby front and high which makes it worse.

I don't wear the low band maternity pants because they tend to "ride down" on me which gives the very unwelcome "plumber" look.

I buy the high banded maternity pants in the next size up.  I bought one pair of mid-banded (just under the belly button) and regret it.  They continual head south and require me to pull them up.

I would also try to get pants with drawstrings, if you can.  While you do have to be careful not to pull them too tight, they really help once the third trimester hits so that you can adjust them to be comfortable and to let you fold over if necessary and still keep them on you.
