  1. They do usally go by gross income.

Did you notify them of your household expenses? They sometimes take that into account.

I don't know what state you live in but in Texas, pregnant women qualify for CHIP which stands for childrens health insurance program.  It is state sponsered insurance that is like 25 dollars a month with very low copays.  Its designed for people who do not qualify for medicaid but still have a financial need.

  2. I agree that you should try again..and also try for (depends what state you are in..) but there usually a program that is like th next best thing to medicaid.. in wis. it's called badgercare.. and it's for families that make just over medicaid income guidelines..

Or you could try AmeriPlan USA. ..they take pre-existing conditions.. if you can't meet either states qualifications..

It's a discount medical plan and covers your entire household for $40 a month. And you use it as you need it..and they give great upfront discounts.. on all health related services!!

If you can't get on state aid.. seriously consider AmeriPlan!

they have been around 16 years.. and have providers nationwide..

    I wish you the best!

  3. go to your local department of human services. or the local health dept. they have programs especially for pregnant women. just call around, and ask. you shouldn't be denied health care. try at these two places, and see if you don't get something. best of luck to you.

  4. Did you apply for medicaid, and tell them you were pregnant?  If not, reapply.  Most states allow 3X to 4X the medicaid income, if you're pregnant.

  5. What state do you live in? How much money do you make? Try Healthy Families.  With Healthy Families the income guidelines allow you to make more money and still receive benefits.  They will ensure children and pregnant women.
