I would call the state that heads the medicaid department but, I can not seem to EVER get to an operator! Is any one have "share of cost" through medicaid and if so, what is it? What does it cover, and how does it work?

Thank you in advance!

  1. Medicaid allows so much per month in income. The amount that you are over that amount becomes your "share of cost" (or deductible) each month for medicaid. When you pay a provider, they will use a machine in their office (Much like a credit card machine) and it will deduct the amount that you have paid from your share of cost for that month. Once you have paid the entire share, your medicaid becomes "active" and can be billed for the rest of the charges you incur in that month. If you do not have services rendered for any given month, you do not owe the share of cost.

If you want to get answers to your questions from medicaid, it is best to go down to the office and speak to a worker.

If you want to e-mail your questions to me, I can try and answer them.

  2. it covers everything and helps with your childs daycare and if your baby get sick you use Medicare and your good.

  3. Have you officially applied for Medicaid? If you completed the necessary paperwork and found eligible, then bring that to the office visit with you.

In my state we have one program that pays for everything. We have another program that is a cost sharing program based on your income.

If you cannot get through over the phone, try online or physically go down to the office.  A case worker will speak with you and guide you.

Call the office back and advise you do not have the $500 for the initial visit, and ask if they are willing to hold off billing until you work out the Medicaid coverage. . . Or go to a clinic instead for the first visit. . .

    Good luck! And congrats!
