My husband's 19yr old daughter is pregnant, she is on his deers and is covered under Tircare Prime. Now she is pregnant and I want to be sure that she knows what kind of coverage she has and that the baby will have.

  1. The baby will not be covered. The daughter can be covered up until age 21 as long as she is a full time student. So they'll pay for the birth an any treatment the daughter needs, but the baby's time in the hospital and the care it recieves will not be covered.

  2. She should be covered, but the baby most likely will not be.  Does your stepdaughter or the baby's father have a job that has health insurance?  If so, the baby could be covered under that.

Call your husband's insurance provider to find out for certain.

  3. My husband is in the Army (we have Tricare) and his daughter was 19 when she had her baby. She was covered but the baby was not after he was born.

  4. If she's considered his dependent on the insurance, I'm pretty sure he can put the baby down as one too.  He should give them a call.
