Question:

Pregnant & Blood Stain in Knickers?

Hi, I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have just gotten back from a quiet night at a friends house. When I went to the toilet, I noticed a small red/brown stain in my knickers but when I wiped there was nothing on the toilet paper and I have had no cramps at all and baby is moving as he normally would. Should I be worried?

I know I can phone the Doctor but its 11.30pm here and I feel fine in myself, so thought I would ask here first.

I have had no cramps, baby is moving fine and the area of where the "blood" was, was very small.

Thanks :)

  1. If it's not flowing and you're not cramping, I wouldn't worry.

  2. You could be losing your mucous plug, which is perfectly normal and can happen weeks before the birth.  It's like discharge but has blood steaks in it, or just looks bloody.  It's known as a bloody show.  It's just your body getting ready xx

  3. To be on the safe side go to A & E your right it is probably fine but it would be wise to have professionals check you and the baby and monitor you both.

  4. it sounds like there really is nothing wrong but i would keep a close eye on yourself and your babys movements Good luck and good bless .... im sure everything is okay

  5. I know this may sound daft, but have you got haemorrhoid's? The same thing happened to me once, and after spending a very scary night in the hospital, it turned out my piles were bleeding. VERY embarrassing!!!

However, having said that, any amount of bleeding during pregnancy SHOULD be investigated. (even if it does turn out to be piles)

  6. u prob farted &followed thro.

    have a spliff & relax.

honest lighten up babies r about the strongest things alive.

  7. Everything is probably just fine but for peace of mind phone the hospital for advise.

  8. Well blood is not good but you said you have no pain??? I would call first thing in the am or go in just to be on the safe side.... plus they would probably do an ultrasound to check everything out... so you could get to see your sweet baby while putting your worries to rest.....yeah the more I think about it I would go in...

  9. I know a girl went to A&E twice then her dr. Apparently a bit of spotting is to be expected, the mucus plug bit (Lee Lee said above). Perhaps better to play it safe. Your decision, of course.

    Best

  10. Sometimes bleeding can continue after conceiving almost like a period but if you have gone 32 weeks without that then I think you should talk to your doctor. He/she won't mind and it's better to be safe than sorry. It could only be a five minute conversation or it could be your baby's life.

  11. Fresh pink/red blood is always BAD and you should at least phone a Dr or your maternity unit to ask for advise.

If it is brownish blood then this is less to worry about.  Brown blood is old and means that whatever caused it has probably resolved itself by now anyway.

The fact you have no pain or cramps and your baby is moving are good signs.

    Good luck.

    Good luck.

  12. if it was just one spot and nothng else, then its noting to worry about really, probably just the late night maybe took it out of you a bit, just rest for a day or two, i had a bit of brown blood at 18weeks and my midwife told me it was my bodys way of telling me to slow down and take it easy! good luck x
