Do pizza places use pasteurized cheese? I ate papa john's pizza sticks and I'm just curious... I'm 20 weeks pregnant... but also since they cook it wouldn't that kill anything anyways?!?

  1. Yes, they cook it at a temp to kill any bacteria.  Also, everything that's cooked and used in a restaurant is inspected to make sure they are doing and using what their suppose to.

  2. don't know about the pasteurized cheese, but have 2 kids ate all with no problem....eat homemade as much as possible always better and controlable. it doesn't hurt to dine out from time to time but avoid exessive.

    Good luck and congrats!

  3. I am not sure about it.

  4. yes everything sold must be pasteurized. if it wasn't i would worry, and i'm not even pregnant.

and yes it would kill the bacteria anyway. what happens after it comes out of the oven though is always a different story =/

  5. Restaurants food standards are way stricter than what we get at home. They have to comply with The Food & Drug Administration standards.

Yes, their cheese is pasteurized and you are correct to mention that that extremely high temperature of a brick pizza oven would kill any bacteria.

The real concern is raw fish (sushi) because of the mercury & you need to be extra cautious when pregnant.
