The lady I bought her off of said she was acting like she was in heat but when she put her in with the stallions they would fight and kick eachother. And if she was pregnant she would foal around August. She's never been in heat since I've had her. What are the signs she is pregant? I have had her check by the vet (very few equine vets here) and he didnt know anything. So i doubt anyone can tell by the pictures but what do you think? Is she just fat or does she look pregnant. No rude answers please. Please let me know if the pics dont work!

  1. yep, she's pregnant!! good luck with your yet-to-be-born foal!

  2. Hi there,

I think you have a very cute foal coming your way! lol

yeah she loks quite pregant to me...

    Good Luck!

  3. she looks like it...maybe you should try to get another vet our for a second opinion, or a person who knows about horses...if you can, get a long glove, and stick your hand up her v****a and feel around....my dad is a vet, and that is what he does, I don't really know what he feels for, but it is worth a try.....just get a long plastic glove that goes all the way up your arm

  4. My best guess would be yes.  I was trying real hard to see if one side of her 'fat belly and sides' was larger than the other.  Or not even...that's a good clue.

If she's a maiden...never had a foal before...her bag may not fill until right before birth.  Although this close...her udder should be swollen a bit.  You should be able to express some liquid out of them too.

DO NOT put ANYTHING into the mare's v****a!!!!!!!!  Horses are palpated through the r****m!!  You can severely damage a mare by invading the v****a.  Not to mention introducing bacteria and causing an infection.  DO NOT do that!!!!

    She's a nice looking mare!

  5. She is absolutely gorgeous!!... she looks quite prego!... You should be able to tell if she is pregnant by...you can look at your horse straight on and see if one side of the belly is bigger then the other and the bigger side it's usually not as round as the other. also when they get really close to having the baby there muscles in there bum go soft and squishy also look for signs that the "nipples" are getting larger.

  6. She's definitely in foal- and I would say that it's just a matter of time before she pops it out !! Seriously, though, you need to find another vet who is experienced with horses and get him or her to give you an opinion as to when she might foal.

Good luck, and congratulations on the impending arrival.

  7. Yeah she look like shes pregnant all right

  8. What a cutie...She looks like she pregnant.  We use to raise minis here and i bought my mom a mini who was almost 2...2 months after i brought her here she gave birth to a grulla and white filly (who turned black and white)  Talk about shocked...Mom runs in and said theres a colt in with the horses...I just woke up and ask her if she was sure it wasn't a dog in there...Nope a baby.  Thankfully about 4 weeks before i trimmed her hooves, wormed her and gave her shots,  Now you know how long they are pregnant for...This means moms horse got prego as a yearling...I had paperwork on the girl, i know how old she was.  Vet checked them and all was well.

  9. she is most defenently pregnant, here we dont have and eqine vet but to make sure there are no complecations with birth you could call any other large animal vet.

  10. dont they put their hand up their bum to palpate? If you stick it up their woo-hoo it can cause an infection.  Plus you shouldn't do it your self.  You could hurt her or you in the process.  Its hard to believe a vet couldnt tell anything if she only has a few month to go.  Have a smart vet check her.

  11. she looks pregent and if  the spot where the foal drinks gets any bigger then she is or if u rubber your hand on her sides and it feels like its more patted then usal then she is. thats all i can remember from helping my uncle with his mares but that was a long time ago!!

If she is pregent then her foal will look cute like its mother!!

  12. She looks pregnant to me even though i don't know much about horses. :]

  13. She is adorable! I think she looks pregnant, not just plain fat. Wait and check status on her for a while and have the vet check her out again in the near future. :)
