Hi,

What happens if you're pregnant not knowing and you still drink your birth control pill everyday? Does it have an effect on you baby? Do you still get your period?

  1. THere is no evidence of harm from taking the pill in early pregnancy. (Many women don't realize they are pregnant immediately.)

If you are pregnant on the pill, you will not get your period. (So if you miss a period while on the pill, especially if you have missed a pill or have other reason to suspect pregnancy, don't start the new pack until you have done a pregnancy test.)

  2. Well, I don't think there'd be too many effects that early on. As soon as it's found that you're pregnant, you'd need to stop taking the pill ASAP. I don't reccomend taking the pill throughout the entire pregnancy, that would probably harm the fetus, but if you didn't know you were pregnant and only took it for a few wks or so, I would think the chances of it harming your baby would be slim to none. Check w/ your doc just to be sure so you can set your mind at ease.

  3. You need to stop taking the pill as soon as you find out your pregnant.  I'm not sure what will happen but I don't think its good to still be taking it.

  4. Most times out of not, the pill won't have too much of an effect (if any) on the baby.

It does, however, have exceptions (when miscarriages can occur), but that's usually with specific types of birth control, so maybe you should ask a doctor about that. In some cases, it has caused miscarriages and some can cause defects, but that all depends on what your doctor says (if you are expecting).

If you really think that you're pregnant, then take a HPT or see the doctor, and depending on the results, discontinue the use of the birth control. But if you take it for even a few months without knowing that you're pregnant, then the baby (most times) will be fine.

If you're pregnant, I can't imagine you actually getting a period (there is sometimes some spotting even when you're pregnant, but not a full on menstruation). And of course that all depends on the birth control that you're taking. There are the ones that have inactive weeks for every month or those that make you have three/four periods a year or the menstruation suppressant kind, so it would all depend on when you were expecting your period to be able to tell.

But don't wait that long... go ahead and if you think you're pregnant, then you should take a test. In my case, once my gut feeling told me that I wasn't pregnant, which I wasn't (your body knows and so will you), and in another case, I was almost certain, and it turned out to be true.

  5. All you are going to do is cause the baby to have possible birth defects. If you are doing it thinking that it will terminate the pregnancy then you are wrong.

  6. it shouldn't harm the baby but if i were you i would stop taking the birth control pill and start taking prenatal vitamins..they are about 5 dollars at walmart
